Context
The brief is to design a poster depicting a heritage building in the style of an early 20th-century vintage travel poster. The client for this brief is a Melbourne municipal council, which is responsible for a public display to promote awareness among residents of the built heritage of Melbourne.
Research
I researched which should be a heritage or noteworthy building, structure, or cityscape in Melbourne. The illustration technique, which should be decorative and pictorial, in the style of early.
Sketch
I did three sketches with different building layouts and typefaces
Editing using Illustrator
Using Photoshop's Threshold tool, save the image at four different brightness levels, then trace the building in Illustrator by separating it into layers. Create several versions of the building's colour, background colour, typeface, size, and layout. Then select the best version. The colour should not be too vivid or too dull. Using a gothic typeface gives a more vintage feel.
